I don't expect the goaltending to hold up like this for the whole season, but it's sure fun right now.

Bob Kudelski...holy crap I thought I forgot that name. What a blast from the goddamn past. Good on Pageau...hopefully that rumoured 5mil x6 year extension is just a rumour. Want him long term, but not at 5...poop.

I just don't see how they're going to be able to get him signed at a number and term that makes sense given his age and where this group is in its rebuild. If there's a 1st+ out there for him on the trade market, I think you take it and run.

I would go the opposite direction and suggest the problem is term rather than quantum. I would be happy at $6m for 3 years.

Agreed 100%. I really like the guy, but I don't '$5M x 6 years' like him.

(1) Keeping play hard & exciting hockey until Feb
(2) Trade deadline is Feb 24. Shop Namestnikov, Demelo, Ennis, Anisimov.....listen on Duclair and Tierney, but these guys are 24-25 years old so it's fine. TRADE Pageau FOR SURE. This is the best value you will get for him and he's not worht signing 4.5m+. Trade Demelo and others that will help the team tank

(3) Trade Pageau for a late 1st round+ (resign him in summer)
(4) 2020 draft, have a top 5/6 pick; have SJ's pick (likely around 15-26th); and have another 1st

(5) Keep Hainsey, Boro, Anderson for leadership, identity, and worth ethic/culture

Trade Demelo? Are you nuts? He's currently in elite company leaguewide in defensive dmen. Was outstanding last year too with Chabot. He made borowieki a reliable dman this year.EVERY dman who's paired with him become better and he's only 25.He's by far our best RHD and wont command crazy money.

And youre telling me to keep hainsey and trade Demelo? Im glad youre not a real GM because you clearly lack hockey knowkedge.Go back on NHL 2019 on your xbox because that is where you belong

Ok first of all I don't know why you got so aggressive at the end lol. It's an opinion dude.

Second, I mention Demelo because he's a pending UFA and obviously will bring us back more than hainsey. Also, Hainsey is a seasoned vet the team will benefit from having in the locker room (without it affecting their chances at a top pick the next 2 drafts) He is also a decent cap hit

Where does Demelo fit on this team after 2 years. The Sens have Chabot, Zaitsev and Brannstrom already in their top 4. BernardDocker is coming, so too is Thomson. We can fit in DD of course but why? Only if he signs a reasonable deal OR if you don't get a good enough return.

ps....I have a ps4, not xbox buddy

Pageau is worth signing 4.5M+
You'll get, at best, a late first round pick who will probably never play in the NHL. Pageau is born in Ottawa, 27 years old, plays his heart out. Ottawa would be silly to trade him.

I agree he is worth 4.5m, I disagree with betting that he'll be worth that in year 3 or 4 of a long term deal.

I agree he's a heart and soul player but just the fact he's from the area doesn't mean you automatically keep him (Brassard, Kadri, Ceci, C. Brown, etc all got moved).

I strongly disagree that a late first automatically means they won't play in the NHL. Who knows, maybe it allows Ottawa to move higher in the draft, maybe they use the player/pick in the future for a young player. There's more options.

People have short term memory in hockey. When Pageau is back at scoring 14-18g (maybe less) he won't be worth 4.5m. Even all this said, trading Pageau still allows Ottawa to resign him in the summer

So, went to my first game since giving up my season tickets several years ago.

It was a really entertaining effort.

Chabot, so cool, so always in control. Hainsey, just what the doctor prescribed for this very young team. Demelo, most surprised by his game, super responsible on every shift, he seemed to log a lot of minutes.

I was right behind the Sens bench and could hear the player chatter. Borowiecki, his team mates love him and for very good reason. He is 100% team.

Logan Brown is a very big kid with soft hands and a better skater than I thought. Nilsson was very good last night.

Duclair is a very good hockey player, he has elite skills. Not sure it makes sense that he was essentially gifted to the Sens but he is a remarkably good fit on this young team.

Panarin was an absolute lazy dog all night, no show, not even a small bark.

Abromov had a big game last night, and Norris continues to impress.

B-sens are still low in the standings but they are stringing wins together and appear to be digging themselves out of that early season hole.

You can count the contending AHL squads that run primarily prospects on one hand. Tampa's Syracuse Crunch awhile back, maybe the Marlies a few years ago...the Checkers. Not a huge issue.

They're getting lots of production out of the guys that matter right now. And that's a really good sign for the Big Senators.
